How does GPS city collection work?
When you arrive in a new city, open Waymark and tap the collect button on the map. The app uses your current GPS location and verifies you are within range of the city centre. Accuracy must be within 200 metres for the collection to count. Collections made this way are GPS-verified and count toward your WayScore and leaderboard ranking.
Can I add cities I visited before downloading the app?
Yes. Use the "Remember a city" feature to log past trips. These are stored separately from GPS-verified visits and are shown on your map, but they don't count toward your WayScore or leaderboard position — only GPS-verified collections do.
How is my WayScore calculated?
Your WayScore is based on three factors: the number of GPS-verified cities you have collected, the rarity of those cities (less-collected cities are worth more), and completing full country sets. Only GPS-verified visits count — remembered past visits do not affect your score.
How do I add friends?
Go to the Friends tab and use the search bar to find people by name or email. Tap the add button to send a friend request. Once they accept, you can see each other's collections and get notified when one of you visits a new city.
Is my location data private?
Location sharing with friends is entirely optional and off by default. When enabled, friends see only your approximate location — not your exact coordinates. You can toggle this at any time in the More tab. GPS is only accessed at the moment you choose to collect a city; Waymark does not track you in the background.
How do I remove a friend?
In the Friends tab, swipe left on any friend and tap Remove. The friendship is deleted immediately and they will no longer see your activity or location.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email address. You'll receive a 6-digit code by email. Enter the code along with your new password to regain access. Codes expire after 10 minutes.
How do I delete my account?
Go to More → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your cities, sets, friendships, and account data. It cannot be undone. If you signed in with Apple or Google, your Waymark account is deleted but your Apple ID or Google account is unaffected.
